What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring designer to help them be successful?

  • Be resourceful, be informed and be aware that nothing in design is right or wrong, or good or bad… It just is.
  • Constraints make design easier… so define them. Embrace them to be successful, and look beyond them to challenge yourself.
  • Stay true to who you are; Personality goes a long way.
  • Design is about people. Be accessible.

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring designer to help them be successful?

  • Meet other designers. School provides a great introduction platform for students to engage professionals. Find those studios and firms that inspire you and ask to have a educational interview with the art and creative directors.
  • Join AIGA,
  • join Art Directors Club.
  • Subscribe to Communication Arts, HOW and any other of the design related publications.

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring designer to help them be successful?

A hard or long week can be punctuated by even a moment of powerful inspiration. Inspiration may come from design blogs, online portfolios, publications, respected historical works, individual designers, and friendly competition.

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring designer to help them be successful?

I’d express clearly that no designer do work for free! Even if it’s meant to end up in their portfolio. In our industry, we need to have a common goal of seeing the value in our own work and passing that along to clients and employers.

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring designer to help them be successful?

If I could give any budding designer, who is seeking a piece of advice about design, it would be to go out there and explore the industry and the world of ever expansive, elusive, Graphic Design.

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring designer to help them be successful?

I realized that I need to believe in the company’s mission to be satisfied. I create better designs when I’m engaged in my work not only from an artistic point of view, but from an intellectual and social stand point.
