Going For It: Stories of Success, Failure, and Everywhere In Between which consists of a series of 4 speakers, sharing their experiences as small, local studios and freelance designers, and are encouraged to share the good, the bad, and the ugly—the realities and challenges of being a designer, working with and getting clients, as well as personal and business successes, funny anecdotes, and overall learning experiences.

We will have speakers from a variety of design backgrounds and experience levels, i.e. graphic designers, web designers/developers, creative entrepreneurs, animation/motion graphics backgrounds, etc.

Panelists:
HRMN Design | Sean Herman

Sean Herman is a designer and developer based in Denver, Colorado. Sean has been working professionally in the field for over 10 years and is most notably known for building products for brands such as Instagram, 3M, Venmo, GE, The North Face, Shimano, American Family Insurance, and many more.

Cast Iron Design | Jonathan Black & Richard Roche

Cast Iron Design is an environmentally responsible design studio located in Boulder, Colorado, operated by Richard Roche and Jonathan Black. The studio’s mission is to pair good design with positive impact by creating memorable brands, implementing environmentally responsible practices, and helping the design community do the same.

Craft Boner | Kiwi Schloffel

Kiwi is the brains and the brawn behind Craft Boner. She puts hand-lettered quotes and funny sayings on cards and mugs and all sorts of other things to make people smile and/or give your grandma a heart attack. When she’s not doodling ideas and doing business-y things, she likes to travel to under-appreciated places to find inspiration (i.e. Omaha, Milwaukee, Iowa).

Prometheus Productions | Vincent Comparetto

Vincent Comparetto is an artist that works in a variety of fields—primarily motion graphics and photography. He has been working in Denver as a creative for 20 years. In his free time he enjoys painting, video art, skateboarding, and listening to discordant music. He does not play sports.
