2014 Annual Student Portfolio Competition Recap

Congratulations to all the students who took the plunge at the 2014 ADCD and AIGA Colorado’s The Review. This annual student portfolio competition was held on April 26th at Denver Arts & Venues’ McNichols Civic Center Building. Portfolios by 58 design and advertising students from Wyoming, Kansas, and Colorado were reviewed by industry designers, art directors, and creative directors from the Denver/Boulder area. Reviewers nominated portfolios to be reviewed by the scholarship committee, which consisted of Katie Matteo, President of Art Directors Club Denver, and Ed Popovitz, AIGA Colorado’s Vice President of Mentorship & Education, to compete for prizes in each session. Only three student portfolios were awarded honors per session.

During the lunch break, a lively panel discussion of The Design Dilemma: Freelancer or Agency Designer provided insight into both career paths. The panel included industry perspectives from Matt Chiabotti, Vanessa Wainwright, Liane Polosky and Steve Wilson.

Special thanks to Ad Club Denver, Adobe, Lynda.com, Denver Arts & Venues and all of our reviewers for their support in helping make The Review 2014 a special day. All event collateral was designed by Fort Hays State University students: Josh White, Tuan Huynh and Gabriela Saravia. We appreciate everyone’s continued support.
