Colorado Creative Series: Hi Noon

Colorado Creatives Series

In support of #AIGAatHome, we have launched the Colorado Creatives Series, an opportunity to celebrate and showcase local creatives in our area. Our Colorado Creatives will share a little about their creative process, some of their most worthwhile investments, current reading lists and more. Enjoy!

Name

Skyler Sun & Kelsey Hill

Pronouns

Skyler: He/His

Kelsey: She/Hers

Where can we find you?

What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?

Skyler:

An electric tea kettle. Life-changing. I can’t believe I used to heat water on a stove.

Kelsey:

Agreed, also the best gift Skyler has ever given me.

What are you reading, listening to, or watching right now?

Hi Noon on reading:

We both are reading Harry Potter. Kelsey is rereading them for roughly the twelfth time and Skyler for the very first time! If Kelsey can make any claim to fame, it will be for getting Skyler to read the entire Harry Potter series.

Hi Noon on binging:

Run, which is co-written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, highly recommended! You can find it on HBO Now. There is a free trial, don’t worry. We don’t want to spoil too much about it, but the first 2 episodes are out now!

Hi Noon on tunes:

Taylor Swift: for any good teenage angst or teenage dance-off music

Mac Miller & Da Baby: to be more hip than Kelsey

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do?

Skyler:

Usually, I question everything about myself. I wonder if I should be doing what I am doing, then I will go for a walk. I realize I am blowing it out of proportion and ultimately it will be okay in the end. That’s sort of my cycle. But I will get to the other side by going for a walk or meditating.

Another thing I’ve been doing, that’s kind of fun, is since there is no delineation between work and home, I have been going on a short (distanced) walk to clock out. This creates some sort of separation between work and home. I take the time to review what happened that day and then create out an evening intention.

Kelsey:

First, I listen to Lizzo to feel empowered and good about myself. Then I start some sort of task, with no pressure on finishing it. Having a task helps clear my mind while keeping me busy but in a cool zero pressure bubble. If both those fail, a call home to mom always helps.

What are you currently working on?

Hi Noon:

We have been working on some rad projects that we are excited to share with the world!

We teamed up with CCF to redo their website. We are also doing some brand identity work for a group of nonprofit recycling companies that are coming together to create a coalition of nonprofit recyclers. It’s exciting to work with nonprofits that are doing amazing things in the world. It feels good working with good people. As a company, that has always been our goal, and living in Boulder has given us that ability.

We have also been working on our own Hi Noon brand. We are creating GIPHY stickers that people can send to one another to stay connected during this time, promote social distancing, and a fun way we can keep our brains moving.
