The next Welcome Wagon event will be an opportunity to explore, both with design and getting into nature.
“As designers, we are regularly tasked with creating pathways for our intended audiences to follow in our design projects. Whether it’s a website that has products for sale or services to sign up for; or a brochure with an intended purpose, we create experiences with intended results.” Lisa Holmes, principal with Yulan Design.
On our Design Hike, we are going to take concepts of UX and wayfinding systems and move them to an analog space. We’ll go exploring outside of Denver and break into two teams. Each team will be tasked with creating a wayfinding system to lead the other team down a visual path to an end goal.
The system will be built with “Leave No Trace” principles, so we’ll be using found objects as well as the added rule of using no letters, symbols or drawn lines. Consider scale, color, texture, space, pattern and placement can help to create your paths.
The Welcome Wagon is an offering from our chapter that is here to help you acclimate to your new state, network with like-minded people, and explore the many wonders Colorado has to offer. Bring a snack, sunscreen and water. Hope to see you there!
