Melissa & Carrie: One of last year’s Giving Voice Mentorship Teams

Melissa and Carrie both share love for animals (and peas!). When getting to know Melissa, Carrie learned how deeply passionate she is about animals and bringing awareness to animal cruelty during last year’s Giving Voice mentorship program.

Melissa wanted to show how different a life of a loved animal contrasts to a life of an abused animal. With Melissa volunteering at a dog/cat shelter a couple days a week, she and Carrie chose to use a dog as their main focal point in the poster. As they met over the two weeks, they sketched out ideas together that would communicate this idea by going over illustration styles, focal points, colors and the overall message of the poster. Carrie really enjoyed working with Melissa. She had a specific vision in her head and would communicate her ideas to make this a truly collaborative process.

Carrie is originally from Ohio and has lived in Colorado for 6 years. She is a graphic designer for Gensler. Carrie loves to surround herself with friends & family, cook, make jewelry and be outside in beautiful Colorado.
