It is a great opportunity to connect with professionals, build relationships, advance your career, and provide an important service for the creative community.

Feel free to nominate yourself or others for board positions. You may nominate yourself or someone else for more than one role, but please note which is your top choice.

Open Board Positions

Admin

Administrative Chair

This important position is focused on helping the chapter deal with day-to-day tasks, such as organizing board meetings and assisting the President with their communication and sponsorship duties. You maintain the event calendar, our most important member benefit, coordinating with the VPs to ensure accurate dates.

Satellite-Boards

Team Leader, Boulder

Colorado is a state-wide chapter, a state that has a big footprint; Boulder and the AIGA community is spreading. We need a leader for the team assembled, and you’ll help to continue to establish the satellite board in Boulder. You’ll help the team run local monthly programming, support membership initiatives, work as a liaison between the Board and Boulder, and connect to key members in the region.

Programming, Boulder

Your job is to direct and develop events throughout the season in Boulder that are designed to help our members hone their craft, network, and be inspired. Work with your local field co-chairs in securing locations and promotion for events, and connect with the Board’s programming team for cross-support and communications. We’re looking for events that hit all levels of designers, events that spark us on our career paths—you pick the formats and topics that appeal to your community. As noted with the Programming positions, the nominee will be asked to provide an event concept, complete with event planning details, such as potential location, audience, and budget. Mentorship & Education

Director of Mentorship & Education, Community

You live for that ah-ha! moment. You love to connect students and professionals and see creativity spark right in front of your eyes. You help run The Review, our annual portfolio review, with ADCD and make our Elevate mentorship program come to life. You oversee and assist the chairs with their events and initiatives. Your goals are to inspire students, engage mentors, and nurture student chapters. APPLY HERE

 

Higher Education Chair

You love to see the lightbulb turn on in a student’s head and aid them in gaining the skills to make their ideas come to life. You run the College Mentorship program, help develop student chapters, and connect student chapters across the state. You host one student event per year and work with the Directors and VP on executing chapter goals by encouraging student participation. APPLY HERE

 

Design Continuum Fund Chair

You have a passion for helping students and believe in supporting local creatives with economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing a higher education in design. You run the newly launched Design Continuum Fund scholarship, help promote to local students, engage with donors, and plan an event to celebrate each year’s scholarship winner. You work closely with the Mentorship & Education team to engage the community, spread the word, and make a difference! APPLY HERE

 

Communications

Communications Director, Promotion (co-director)

You’re a smooth operator. You work closely with the VP to execute on your perfectly planned promotions. Your number one job is to get the word out about programs and events. But your real job is to make sure it’s all going smoothly, with forms filled out and assets collected. You assign to dos. You check in with your team, the event calendar, and VPs of Programming and Education frequently to make certain all their efforts are being seen on the web, in social media and our weekly email efforts, and assess the value by the membership. You identify bottlenecks and assist chairs with scheduling challenges. APPLY HERE

 

Communications Director, Content (co-director)

Your conviction is that that content is king. You work closely with the VP and Communication Chairs to craft and execute our voice throughout all of our promotions. Your editorial plan populates the monthly newsletter, DesignWire, with inspiration for our members. Along with eloquent messaging, you make sure it’s all going smoothly, with assets collected for your team. You assign to dos. You check in with your team, the event calendar, and with other teams frequently to make certain all their efforts are cohesive and targeted to our membership. Web Chair

HTML and CSS don’t phase you. You know what it takes to get content online and make the AIGA website work for you. You’re in charge of creating event registration, adding events and articles to the website, and sending out HTML emails. The lifeblood of our communications team lies with you—and your peers. (Don’t worry, you won’t be alone in this.) APPLY HERE

 

Social Media Chair

You can see the matrix between events, community, ideas, and promotion—all in under 280 characters. You find joy in a social media calendar for original content, know when to jump in to promote trends, and relish in shares, likes, and retweets. Copywriter Chair/PR

Designers love to talk, but often need help finding just the right words. This is where you come in. You refine ideas into something that makes a connection—and is grammatically correct. You review submitted content, provide feedback and strategic direction, and craft communications to connect with members through email promotions and social media (in tandem with our social media chairs). You are integral in producing content for our website and the communication that moves through our multi-channel messaging. You assist our blog chair with editing submitted content as well. APPLY HERE

Blog Chair

You help to weave the story of AIGA Colorado and our craft by soliciting or writing articles to highlight our events, and chronologize the creative experience. You work to create fresh content on our blog with your original stories, and tap board and community members for submissions that highlight the who, what, where, when, and why of design in a cohesive calendar of content. APPLY HERE

 

Branding Chair

Design is what you love and really all you want to do. Lucky for you, design is in high demand! You and your co-chair will shape the look of the AIGA Colorado brand. You’ll design promotional graphics for our speaker series, work­shops, and other events and initiatives we host every year. Your designs will populate the website and DesignWire, our weekly email news. This is your oppor­tu­nity to do the design you really want to do—with input from your team of designers. Programming

Sponsorship Director

You enjoy the puzzle and process of identifying and engaging potential sponsors for chapter events and initiatives. You network to create strong partnerships that support events and activities, work closely with the Directors and VPs to suggest great opportunities, and coordinate with the event chairs. You revel in relaying the benefits of supporting design, our organization, and the creative community. APPLY HERE

 

Programming Director

You oversee a team of dynamic and focused chairs that are dedicated to inspiring designers, professional development, and making connections, assisting them with executing their events. You evaluate event topics with the chairs and your VP, with big-picture chapter goals in mind that appeal to members in all stages of their careers. You check in with chairs on budgets and schedules, making sure they work with the communications team effectively and have volunteers for events. APPLY HERE

You’ve got ideas for events that you think Denver designers have been waiting to attend. If you are applying, the nominee will be asked to submit an event concept, complete with event planning details, such as potential location, audience and budget. Don’t let this requirement deter you! AIGA Colorado is a working board, and are looking for enthusiastic team mates ready to jump in and learn the ropes, at all levels of their careers; the Programming Team acts as the party planners for all AIGA Colorado events. Fundraising Event Chair

You love the challenge and the glory of an event well planned. You assemble and lead a small committee to plan and execute a fundraising event from start to finish. You create and execute a fundraiser to help support the chapter, and involve and give back to the local design community.  You work with the President and VPs to establish budget, promotion, and content.
