This year we are presenting a series of three films to inspire, educate and entertain the design community.
All three films speak to something the Roman statesman Cicero said two thousand years ago (heavily paraphrased here), “If you don’t know what happened before you were born, you’ll never get to play with the grownups”.
The first two in the series focused on graphic and industrial design. Our third film focuses on Architecture.
Desert Utopia – October 6
This film offers an introduction to many of the biggest names in post-war modernist architecture. Southern California’s Coachella Valley, including the communities of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs, boasts hundreds of extraordinary midcentury modern homes, public buildings and commercial structures.
The film features many iconic modern designers such as William F. Cody, Albert Frey, William Krisel, John Lautner, Richard Neutra, R.M. Schindler, Donald Wexler, E. Stewart Williams and how they left their collective mark on this desert paradise.
The film will be shown on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at the Dairy Arts Center, Boedecker Theater, in Boulder. Tickets are $16.00.
Ticketing will ONLY be through the Dairy Arts Center. Tickets will be available soon.
