Now the Good Stuff....
Join Angela Astle, Executive Producer and Founder of Colorado’s Athena Project as she discusses the current state of gender parity in the arts.
Athena Project is the Colorado nonprofit that celebrates and nurtures women’s artistic expression, working actively for equality of opportunity, recognition and pay based on artistic merit alone. Since 2012 Athena Project has successfully brought the work of women artists to a broader audience through innovative programming and partnerships. Explore the different factors that play into the cyclic nature of gender nonparity in the arts. Unlike many other disciplines, women are well represented in degrees of design, writing, theatre, visual arts and dance; yet once they leave educational institutions they don’t reach director level positions at the same rate as men. We are in a critical time in history as women are leaving the workforce at unprecedented rates. We have to act now to actively recruit and support women in reaching their professional goals.

The organization has grown to include summer art camps for girls in 6th-10th grade, the creation of programs to support artistic connection, and numerous invitations to provide programming for some of Denver’s most respected organizations such as TEDx Mile High, The Women’s Foundation, Denver Center for Performing Arts, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, among others.
