A passionate guide for future designers, John’s career spans more than four decades. He came to Denver from Chicago to earn his BFA from Colorado State University. In 1976, he opened Ampersand Studios with a focus on branding to environmental graphic design. A founding member of AIGA Colorado, he has served on the board of directors for both AIGA and ADCD, and continues to serve on the board for the Department of Architecture, Design and Graphics for the Denver Art Museum. Since 2004, when John accepted a position as Chair of the Graphic Design program at the Community College of Denver, teaching has proved his passion. Working with a diverse student population, he revels in helping “coach up” students to transfer to four-year institutions or gain entry-level positions.
