Name

Lisa Capezzuoli

Pronouns

She, Her, Hers

Where can we find you?

What is one piece of advice you can offer to other designers right now?

I believe crisis creates opportunities and I am personally focusing on my long term vision. We have also created a quarantine journal full of thoughts and things we are learning about ourselves every day. It will be interesting to read it back next year.

What are some designs that have greatly influenced your life?

Ikko Tanaka > Nihon Buyo 1981
I have been always fascinated by the simplicity of this powerful poster, just using basic forms as circles, squares and triangles.

Henri de Toulose-Lautrec > Chat Noir
One of the first graphic designer of the 900. Le “chat noir” (the black cat) was a nineteenth-century entertainment establishment in Paris. It was the first modern cabaret and one of the first places featuring literary writing, poetry, and political satire combined with art and music.

Tony Palladino > Italian American flag
Tony was my professor at SVA where I took an undergraduate course. Tony and his wife, Angela, became my adopted grandparents in NYC. My home away from home.

What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?

In 2007 I quit my job in Rome and went to New York City on vacation looking for myself. During that trip I got a job opportunity and never left. I arrived in America as a tourist, today I am an American citizen. It was a long challenging journey, but I did it all by myself.

What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?

I talk a lot with my hands. I’m originally from Italy and I could have an entire conversation with you, without talking.

What are you currently working on?

I’m focusing on myself and creating a showreel with the best of the best of my latest projects.
